There's been a wave of articles this week arguing AI builders are making things worse. Too many ideas and apps being generated, the theory goes, and not enough people using any of them. For me, the last decade had the opposite problem — big-brother tech companies kept swallowing the alternatives. Facebook absorbing Instagram and WhatsApp. The pool of apps you could actually choose between kept shrinking.
We need more choice and more unique ideas to come out of this period of creativity. I hereby welcome it.
I can imagine a future where we build our own small tools, fast, with no expertise needed, for the everyday problems we have. Most likely Apple, Google or Microsoft will still own the OS we live in, but it would be great to see someone disrupt from the wings.
